Muchos de los nos encontramos bien entrada la treintena o en el ecuador de la misma recordamos como uno de los primeros discos que nos marcó en nuestra adolescencia aquél The Joshua Tree que U2 lanzaban a la luz en 1987.

Un trabajo mesiánico, de rock crepuscular con el que los irlandeses se hicieron universalmente conocidos gracias a la tripleta “Where The Streets Have No Name”, “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” y “With Or Without You”. Un disco con unas ventas millonarias y una gira por lo que cuentan memorable, que desembocó en el excesivo y americanizado Rattle & Hum (convertido también en película).

Muchos consideramos que Bono y compañía no han hecho absolutamente nada reseñable desde 1993 -sino estropear su leyenda- o nos preferimos álbumes como The Unforgetable Fire (1984) o Achtung Baby (91), pero a pesar de ello consideramos ese Joshua Tree como un antes y un después en el rock épico ochentero, un trabajo que contenía canciones maravillosas como “One Tree Hill”, “Red Hill Mining Town”, “In God’s Country” o una de mis favoritas, “Bullet In The Blue Sky”.

En pocas semanas se publica una edición conmemorativa que hará las delicias de nostálgicos y de fanáticos de la banda, una caja denominada superdeluxe, que aparte de contener el disco original, vendrá acompañada por un DVD que incluye un concierto grabado en el hipódromo de Vincennes de París el 4 de julio de 1987 (apenas dos semanas antes de su famosa actuación en el Bernabeu) así como un documental o varios videos musicales y la edición de un CD con 15 canciones de la época, incluyendo caras B y alguna que otra rareza inédita hasta la fecha.
